Chicago PD Season 2 Episode 13

Gabby get's caught as the arsonist's next victim.

Gabby get’s caught as the arsonist’s next victim.

Intelligence took a pretty interesting method in getting their man this week.

Voight said they needed to get under the suspect’s skin. Which they never really did. This guy was smart. He taunted them with what he knew the police already knew, but didn’t say enough to be confessing to anything.

Whatever you want to call the man, Adrian Gish, Ross McGowan or Trenton Lemonte, he was a career arsonist and had been getting away with it for a very longtime.

Intelligence got this case because Antonio’s sister, Gabby, called up her brother and asked him for help. Her partner, Shay, had been killed in a fire and her and Kelly found evidence proving it was arson. Unfortunately, the Fire Department decided not to pursue the prime suspect, Gish. While they were investigating they found that Gish was also responsible for a fire that Mills’ father was killed in and the Chief was burned in. Over all there was a big desire to get justice.

This is where Intelligence came in. If anyone can catch the bad guy, they can.

Getting under the man’s skin didn’t work as well as they hoped. Burgess and Roman’s squad car was blown up. Burgess wanted to follow Gish into the bathroom, but Roman said he left his phone so he would be back. He was back, but not before planting something in their car. Roman was definitely not on the top of his game this week.

Gish even enjoyed being followed. He went into a convenience store, picked up a lot of fire accelerants and walked up to the register. The other one was free and the cashier called Gish over, but he said he would wait. It turns on the cashier had been in a fire and you can only assume it was one that Gish set. After the conversation, Gish said he changed his mind on the merchandise.

The one thing that did work was following the trail of evidence. Alvin and Ruzek spoke to Gish’s boss and found out what college he attended. Then Erin and Jay spoke to one of his old professors and found out Gish wasn’t his real name. The real Gish died in an office fire.

Gish’s lawyer turned up and claimed Gish had his name changed from McGowan, but when Chief Wallace Boden heared the name he got angry. Apparently McGowan died in the same fire Mills’ father did and the Chief was burned in. So once again they had a false name.

The convenience store also shared some light on Gish’s past. He was burned on his arm. Erin took the conclusion that he was in a horrible fire when he was young and that set him off. That was true. They figured out which fire and went to his old home. The home was never re-built, but Gish had a house right next to it. They barged in, found pictures of Gabby and found a fake text to her.

It was a really close call saving Gabby. Antonio shot the man, but the lighter dropped. There was a moment when you didn’t breathe and then she caught the lighter and closed it.

Elsewhere in the episode, Platt was getting observed for a newspaper article, but when Burgess confronted her about being so nice, she claimed she was being observed because of a complaint against her. Burgess being the sweet girl that she is, told the reporter how great Platt is. Next thing she knows she’s quoted on the front page and is not happy about it at all.

I wasn’t enjoying Platt acting so polite, but her deception paid off in the end. The look on Burgess’ face was priceless.

How good is Erin's mom's lead?

How good is Erin’s mom’s lead?

So Erin still wants to continue things with her and Jay. Jay replied: ” I don’t know. I’m not really a sneak-around behind dad’s back kind of guy.”

Erin: “Says the guy that works undercover.”

Then Jay got serious and said he wanted to come clean to Voight, something Erin was not prepared to do.

After the case was closed we got another nice Linstead scene where they were getting hot and heavy again. So their sneaking around begins.

We got a little bit of a cliffhanger this week. Erin’s mom called her out of the blue and of course Erin was concerned, she’s expecting the worst. Her mother no longer works at the bar and is working at a truck rental place. She suspects a repeat customer of murder. Does she have any sense when it comes to crime or is she giving Erin a bad lead?

Next week Intelligence will track down this lead and it leads right back to her mother. Take a look at the preview:

Chicago PD Season 2 Episode 12

The team had to go through a lot of suspects before they found their man.

The team had to go through a lot of suspects before they found their man.

I had a feeling Erin would be back on Intelligence. It just didn’t seem like the writers would write Sophia Bush off the show. Erin has been such an integral character from the start. I didn’t expect her to be back on the team so soon though. She only spent two episodes on the task force. Not that I blame her. Six months of babysitting the informant and getting your hair done is not the way I would want to spend my time either.

Where will this leave Erin and Jay? They’ve already admitted they have feelings for each other and while they never said they were exclusive, they certainly aren’t dating other people either. Voight was more than happy to take Erin back, but what will he do when he finds out about Erin and Jay? Erin’s his girl, so something tells me that Jay would get more of the heat.

When Erin took the task force job she thought she’d be doing some real good. But two cases in she hasn’t really done anything. She’s not leaving a great opportunity, she’s going back to where she can do more good. And it didn’t take long for Voight to take her back. She didn’t even need to say ‘bring justice to her streets’, like he taught her. All she had to do was ask.

Not everything has to be full of drama. Ruzek may have gotten off to a rocky start working with his dad, but he just didn’t know the whole story. His dad and Voight are two very different kinds of cops. Most of the episode painted his father in a pretty bad light. Bob threatened Voight in case he was taking his son down a bad path and Ruzek was kind of an ass to his dad when Bob was trying to interfere with an arrest. While the suspect wasn’t guilty, the evidence did lead them to him.

It turns out Bob just wanted to be there for his son. He clocked in and clocked out and always came home. He didn’t want to be heroic, incase he didn’t get home to Ruzek. Ruzek is not that kind of cop, at least he doesn’t have to be at this point.

This storyline was nice because it gave a little background about Ruzek’s childhood and how Voight knew his father. But it didn’t have to be overdramatic. The action can be fast paced on ‘Chicago P.D.’, but not everything has to be that way.

Another crossover event is coming. On Tuesday, February 3 the two-night event will see ‘Chicago Fire’ and ‘Chicago PD’ join forces to take down the man who killed Leslie Shay.

Chicago PD Season 2 Episode 11

How many people were happy that Erin and Jay finally got together?

How many people were happy that Erin and Jay finally got together?

From the first episode of ‘Chicago P.D.’ there was chemistry between Jay and Erin, but Voight had this strict rule, no in-house relationships. So they danced around it, but when it came down do it, they just couldn’t cross that line.

Now Erin has taken a job with the FBI and she’s free to date him. So finally they are diving in. But how long will she stay with the FBI?

Seeing as Burgess turned the position down and Erin is clearly not happy at the FBI, will that lead her back to Intelligence? The writers haven’t written her out of the show, but I don’t see how the storyline can follow her at the FBI and the rest of the squad at Intelligence. A lot of the storylines made for Burgess and Roman have been really weak. When Atwater was her partner, the story was always better when they were teamed up to work with Intelligence.

In one way I was surprised by Burgess decision to turn down her spot on Intelligence. This was only what she had been working for. She was really upset when Atwater got the spot last night. Things are different now. She sees Roman is fragile and she doesn’t blame him at all for what happened, but she doesn’t want to leave him behind either. I respect her for staying with Roman. That’s what partners are supposed to do. I think Voight will respect her more for it. And I do believe he will give her another shot.

So where do they go from here? How do the writers bring Erin back to Intelligence? Sophia Bush is a strong character on the show, I can’t see them writing her off completely.

Next week Intelligence is searching for a missing boy, and there is no Erin in sight. Take a look at the preview:

Chicago PD Season 2 Episode 10

Will get shot change Burgess?

Will getting shot change Burgess?

I still want to know the fate of Sophia Bush’s character. It looks like she is leaving the show and I’m really upset about that.

On the other hand I’m really relieved that Burgess is okay. But what will she do now?

She finally gets the chance to be in Intelligence, but she’s seen first hand what an in-house relationship can do, I mean she was shot because of it. And of course Roman didn’t come clean and tell Voight what happened. In fairness though even if Roman did go up with her to the door, one of them probably would have ended up shot, but at least they would have done it as a team and maybe been more aware.

This was a very interesting case. They were chasing a ghost. This was probably the most exciting ‘Chicago P.D.’ episode yet. There’s been a lot of personal episodes, but this was even more intense. There was no knocking down doors to get their man. It had to be very cautious, it had to be very strategic.

The last bomb was very intense. While in the back of my mind I thought they are going to make it through this no problem, that didn’t stop me from holding my breath when they were disabling the bomb.

I love when writers can get me on the edge of my seat even when I know the main characters are going to be fine. Of course after Burgess was shot you didn’t know what was going to happen next.

Next week Erin will be working with her team again, but in a very different way. And now that Erin and Jay no longer work together, could they actually have their chance? I hope so. Take a look at the preview:

Chicago PD Season 2 Fall Finale

Erin looking at Jay as she tells the unit she's leaving.

Erin looking at Jay as she tells the unit she’s leaving.

I had a bad feeling when Roman and his ex partner were fighting. As Burgess walked up to the house I wanted her to stop. She rang the doorbell and got shot. Now we see why Voight doesn’t like in house romances. It leads to someone getting hurt.

But maybe Erin and Jay can actually be together now that she’s leaving Intelligence. But what does this mean for the show? Is Sophia Bush sticking around or is she leaving ‘Chicago P.D.’? She was the reason why I started watching this show. Not saying I would stop if she left, but I would really miss her.

Some of the midseason finales this December have been a little lackluster. Not ‘Chicago P.D.’. It really brought a great episode. I loved them breaking into the club to steal the drugs and it was a crazy ride trying to bring these guys down. It was everything ‘Chicago P.D.’ is known for.

Putting Olinsky’s wife in jeopardy made it that much more suspenseful. I was sitting there on the edge of my seat waiting to see how he was going to save his wife and not let the bad guys get the drugs back. He came through in the end, but I’m not sure how is wife is going to be felling about him now.

Between Antonio’s kid getting abducted and Antonio getting shot, it drove his wife away. Well he could have kept his wife if he left his job. There’s no way Olinsky is quitting his job. So where does that leave Olinsky and his wife?

On top of all the suspense, Erin gave us an answer to the task force job opportunity, which wasn’t what I was expecting. As great an opportunity as it is, I don’t want her to leave.

Then to wrap things up, the writers put Burgess’s life in danger. It looks like she could survive with that shot, but that doesn’t change the fact that it was her partner that got her shot. This opens up a lot of doors for writers when we return.

Chicago PD Season 2 Episode 8

Erin and Jay undercover at the sex club.

Erin and Jay undercover at the sex club.

It’s this kind of stuff that gets people mad at how corrupt the police are, but Antonio is a good man and didn’t deserve to lose his job. I love how the Intelligence unit protect each other and take care of each other. I can see why Erin is having such a hard time deciding to take the task force job. Where else than Voight’s team will Erin be so well protected? It’s a family.

Will Erin take this great opportunity? Personally I would say it’s a no brainer, take the job. But that would mean Erin would be leaving the Chicago PD and I don’t want that. She’s the reason I started watching the show and she’s a great part of the cast.

I really enjoy anytime Erin and Jay partner up together and I’m still waiting for these two to get together. There hasn’t been much happening between these two since Voight said no in house relationships. If only Erin could defy Voight.

Is this the last we will see of Layla? It seems pretty convincing that she was behind her husband’s murder. They usually don’t get away, but she’s flying away into the sunshine.

The detectives are taking a little bit of a break over Thanksgiving and will be back December 10 fighting to get a lethal drug off the street. Check out the preview:

Chicago PD, SVU, Chicago Fire Crossover Event

Chicago-PDIf only watched the ‘Chicago P.D.’ episode, you really missed out on a very emotional and intricate case.

It started with pictures found in a fire that the Chicago Fire Department found on a call and it turned into a case that crossed two states. The case was bringing down a child sex trafficking ring.

Erin got emotionally involved when she found a picture of her brother when he was about 15. She hasn’t spoken to him for ten years.

I’ve never watched ‘Law and Order: Special Victims Units’ before so I don’t know how typical the episode was. There was a lot of investigative work and it was very interesting watching the case unravel.

law-and-order-svu-season-14-photos-promotional-mariska-hargitay-danny-pino-kelli-giddish-ice-t-svu-chicago-fire-chicago-pd-crossover-comThings heated up when the story crossed over into ‘Chicago P.D’. The show is known for it’s suspense and action and there was a lot of it. One by one they went through the suspects. They thought they were getting a break and then the suspects were either getting killed, killing themselves or dying when trying to get away.

The case was feeling absolutely hopeless till Erin brought her half brother back in. He didn’t believe he could help, but with his ID of the ring leader they were able to save a little boy.

It was a very dramatic scene with the terror in Teddy’s eyes as he looked at the picture of the man who terrified him. But the man peaked my interest as a suspect earlier. He told the cops that Matilda was dating a Gary Miller, but when Ruzek looked into the guy, Matilda had no contact with him. Anyone else think that was suspicious? I thought the guy was made up to remove suspicion, but no one ever looked at Mr. Van Camp again. Why? That was a major red flag to me and my first thought was to go back to him.

It was quite a three episode crossover event. The story didn’t start till the very end of ‘Chicago Fire’. It was more of a two episode cross over event really.

Other than those two minor details it was a great crossover event. Though I would have called it a ‘SVU’-‘Chicago P.D.’ crossover event.

Check out the episode for next week. The guy Antonio is supposed to be protecting gets killed while he’s on the job. He has to solve the murder or lose everything:

Chicago PD Season 2 Episode 6

Chicago-PDThese detectives go to extreme lengths to get their man. This time three of them went undercover in a prison, two as inmates and one as a guard.

I thought Antonio had the safest part as a guard, but when all the inmates looked at him like fresh meat, it was clear, he was in just as dangerous a situation.

Hollywood loves to paint a picture that there isn’t good communication between different police units. This time an ATF officer had their suspect cooperating with him and about to go into witness protection. He claimed the suspect was off limits, but what about the little girl that was murdered? Doesn’t she deserve justice. Atwater believed she did and this is where the Intelligence unit stepped in.

Did they even think of checking who the inmates were in the prison before they went in? Cops bust convicts all the time. They managed to get the job done before Atwater was completely found out, but not in enough time to not have to fight for his life.

Ruzek was great undercover. For a moment they thought all was lost and then he started a fight with Atwater so they could get their chance back. Olinsky was right to put Ruzek into Intelligence. And Atwater did a pretty good job using his street knowledge.

Roman and Burgess are working on weird little cases from week to week, but it is good character development for Roman. When Burgess and Atwater were partners, they seemed to have more interesting cases though.

Is Erin really going to take the job? She’s can’t leave the Chicago P.D.

Next week there will be a big crossover event with ‘Chicago Fire’, ‘SVU’ and ‘Chicago P.D.’ joining forces. Check out the preview:

Chicago PD Season 2 Episode 5

Chicago-PDThis episode did not turn out at all how I was expecting. When Voight’s safe gets taken, you assume he has something inside that he’s not supposed to have. He has gained a reputation for himself for being dirty, but it wasn’t the money or anything illegal he was desperate to get back. It was his wife’s wedding ring. Making Voight a lot more sentimental than he lets on. Or maybe the news of him being a grandfather has brought this new facet out in him.

So if everything was all on the legal side, why keep it in house? It would have made it a lot easier to find the two guys if he would have got the rest of the station involved. While everything was on the up and up, Voight didn’t exactly go by the book on the case. He has his place just out of town where he lives to take his suspects. He scares them into telling him the information. Not sure why feels the need for this, when intelligence has their own interrogation area and it’s pretty scary too.

I’m not sure what the whole point of Roman and Burgess’ little case was. They were just searching for a girl who stole her badge. What was the point of this little storyline? It seemed pointless.

Check out the preview for next week. They go undercover in a very dangerous case:

Chicago PD Season 2 Episode 4

Chicago-PDI am a big fan of detective shows, but sometimes the cases can be a bit boring. Not on ‘Chicago PD’ though. There’s always a lot action and the cases are very mysterious. Every answer on this case lead to another question. The writers are pretty good at surprising you at every turn. It’s not like some cases that the first questioned suspect is the perpetrator. What’s also nice about this show is it’s not always murders they are solving. This time it was two missing girls.

Roman and Burgess make a great team. They haven’t exactly connected yet, but when it comes to getting the job done, they do it well.

I can’t believe Platt was mad at them for their innovative thinking and solving a homicide. It was so interesting to watch. They stuck by the rules and didn’t truly ask the woman who gave them the gun anything, but followed the clues and found the suspect. It was such a nice little side case. I’m still not sure why Roman won’t let Burgess in. She’s a good cop. There’s definitely something hidden about his character and I’m intrigued to find out what.

Finally we get a little background information about what happened with Antonio and his wife. It’s still not very much. So are they actually working it out or are they on the verge of a divorce and he just doesn’t want to tell his daughter that yet? For one he took the personal security job for extra money and the way he looked at the man’s wife, was not the way you look at another woman when you are married. This is a storyline I want the writers to go more into.

I’m rooting for Erin to win her little shoot out with Jay and if I could put money on it, my money would be on Erin too, just like Plait.

Check out the preview for next week. Voight has a personal attack on him:
