Could Jay really have killed that guy? He doesn’t really have a good role model in Voight and since he didn’t confide in Erin, I’m getting very worried. I know he thought he was doing the right thing, if he did kill the guy, but he could have just destroyed his whole career.
The intelligence unit worked together to solve the case so Olinsky’s daughter wouldn’t have to testify and she still is going to have to testify. Ruzek tried to break the case on his own angle with the help of Burgess, but nothing they did would mean breaking the case without Olinsky’s daughter.
There’s a new guy in Internal Affairs and he’s all business. He wants to get things done and he not only has his eye on Voight, but Jay as well. A new detective was put into the unit to keep an eye on Jay and not Voight. Apparently Jay’s activities are getting noticed. Voigt stepped in trying to help, but unless Voight helped off screen, Jay is acting alone.
This intelligence unit sure likes to bend the rules to get things done. I think sometimes you do have to think outside of the box to get things done, but reaching the line and crossing the line are very different. I just really hope that Jay’s hands are not on this murder.
Check out the preview for next week. Jay is suspected of murder and it’s having consequences on the whole unit:
Can Voight really go down for just doing what he was hired to do? He has relationships with the criminal element and keeping those relationships is very important to bringing them down. So I understand why Voigt could be very careful in they way he’s trying to get these guys off the streets. But is he actually trying to get these guys put behind bars or is he abusing his power? It’s so hard to tell with Voight. Now with the mystery of Browning coming up, it doesn’t put him in the best of light.
I think this case was a little bit of a let down from what the previews showed. In the episode it didn’t take them very long to figure out that the undercover cops were the good guys. I was expecting more suspense. The end shoot out definitely made up for the lack of suspense though. This can’t be blamed on the writers though. Previews can be very misleading sometimes. It’s even worse with the films. Sometimes they show almost the whole movie and leave very little to see when you go to the theater.
Jay and Erin both had side projects that they were working on in this episode. Jay is trying to make sure what happened to his old girlfriend’s brother doesn’t happen to another kid. Could he be on to something? It certainly seems suspicious that the accused is buying toys from a toy store. But Jay is emotionally involved and may not be able to see things straight. Erin is desperately trying to help a young woman leave her life behind for a better one, but every time Erin gets close to helping her, the girl goes back to her bad habits.
Is there something starting between Burgess and Ruzek? I have noticed some light flirting in other episodes, but I feel like a whole day together has sparked something between them. What does this mean for Ruzek’s fiancée? Olinsky has already proven how hard this job can be for relationships and now Ruzek may even have feelings for someone else.
Did anyone else have any idea that Atwater had kids? That was a pretty big surprise for me.
Check out the preview for next week. Olinsky’s daughter is the key witness of a gang murder and becomes the next target:
This episode was a roller coaster of emotions. Voight was fighting to figure out how to protect his son from going back to jail and Antonio was trying to figure out if he could trust his boss.
It looked like Voight was willing to risk everything to save his son, but Erin had a better idea. She went straight to Justin to figure out what was going on and brought him into the station and Justin told Antonio everything he knew. Justin isn’t going to go away for murder because he cooperated and Antonio is letting him off the hook. Granted everything wasn’t quite legal, but Antonio realized why Voight was acting suspicious.
I really don’t like the woman in internal affairs. She very emotional and she really wants to take Voight down, but Voight is a good cop. It sounds like, as Antonio said that she’s a climber.
Antonio is a very decent guy and apparently the woman ruined his partner for a simple mistake on the guys part. He killed himself because of it. That’s something Antonio is not going to forget.
Unfortunately Erin trying to help Jay has driven a rift between them. I don’t think that Jay likes that the footage was deleted, but that was Antonio’s call not Voight or Erin’s. He should respect that Erin was trying to help the guy that’s like a brother to her, but she helped him by bringing him, not helping him run. I hope Jay and Erin will be back to flirting soon.
Did Voight kill Catalono? It sure looks like he did, but Antonio wasn’t going after his son anymore, so what was the point? Sounds like that guy would have got caught or worse eventually anyways.
I think the Army will be good for Justin. He hasn’t learned discipline and no matter how much his father has tried to steer him back on the right path, he’s stayed on the wrong one.
Check out the preview for next week, they discover a cop undercover, but they don’t know who’s side he’s playing for:
Erin was reminded who she use to be this week and she let it get under her skin. She was going to go to her high school reunion to prove she had become something better than she was, but she has.
She pulled herself up from nothing and now she gets bad guys off the street. She got a rapist of the street this week before he could hurt anyone else. That’s probably a lot more than what her fellow classmates can say.
Voight new something was up with Justin, but I think it was much worse than he could have imagined. What did Justin do? Did he kill someone and how is Erin supposed to get him out of it? I hope Erin calls Voight and doesn’t try to help Justin all by herself.
Kim was a real asset this week. She was a key part of solving the case. I don’t know why she only gets respect in the Intelligence Unit.
I really want Jay and Erin to get together. I know Voight has said no, but they make such a cute couple. They have to get together at some point.
It was another intense episode this week. Every case has been intense so far, but how will the case of Justin being involved in murder be?
Check out the preview for next week, Voight has to choose between his career and his son:
There was less action this week, but that didn’t mean it was any less intense.
Voight’s son, Justin, is getting into trouble really quickly and it’s Erin, who’s like a big sister, that’s having to keep him out of trouble. If he only knew that she was doing it for his own good. He has a chance to start fresh, instead he’s going down the wrong path. Voight is keeping a close eye on him though. That could turn out to be a bad decision. If Justin finds out he’s spying on him, as Erin said, Justin will push him away.
Ruzek is finding it difficult to keep his personal life and his work life separate. He finds it really easy to not to tell his fiancee anything about work, but he can’t seem to let her calls go to voice mail when he’s at work. I get it, you don’t want to make your girl mad, but I think you have the best excuse in the book when you are on a stake out. I think he can make both worlds work, but he might need to open up to his fiancee a little bit more. Then when he walks through that door, he can’t be dealing with wedding plans.
I totally get why Ruzek went in before back-up came. His first instinct was that the longer they waited, the less chance the girls had to survive. He needs to balance that with patience though. He can’t help people if he’s dead. He was totally out of line on the stake out though. Olinsky just gave him the speech about how he lost a suspect because he had to pee, so why would Ruzek call his fiancee? When you are on a stake out, keep your eyes on the target at all times.
Previews hinted at a budding relationship between Erin and Jay, but other than Jay trying to impress Erin, there hasn’t been too much brewing. I don’t know if Erin was already starting to have feelings for her partner, or if Voight telling Jay he couldn’t be with her made him suddenly seem desirable. But they are certainly heating up now. He was there for her after a tough day on the job and who knows what could have happened if she didn’t have to go get Justin out of trouble.
It looks like Voight needs to get down to business or he could end up back in jail. I don’t know what he did to land himself in jail, but Internal Affairs is pretty serious about him sticking to his deal. So why is he postponing it? Is it just because he’s had more pressing cases to deal with? Or is it something else?
The lady from Internal Affairs has given Antonio her card, but will he use it? He seems to respect Voight, but as she said, he’s a good cop. But Voight hasn’t done anything to Antonio’s knowledge, to even report.
It’s hard to tell who’s the good guys between Internal Affairs and Voight. He seems to be doing a lot of good since he got out, but the burning question still remains, why was he in jail?
Chicago P.D. will return after the Olympics, Wednesday, February 26 with a crossover event with Law and Order SVU. Check out the preview for the episode that will air from 9-11 pm ET on NBC:
Another intense episode! They may be fighting crime on the streets but they are all going through very personal issues.
Olinsky’s daughter was with the wrong guy and he took care of it. The boy was letting her take the fall for his joints and didn’t even think twice about what it would do to her record. So Olinsky went right to the source, called the boy, brought him to the station and scared him straight. He really didn’t do anything, but he was very intimidating. His daughter was furious with him. They were supposed to go to the father-daughter dance but she was suspended. She still got all dressed up and wanted to dance with her dad though. It was so sweet. Olinsky has already told Ruzek to get out his relationship, so what happened to Olinsky and his wife?
Voight’s son is out and he’s already up to no good. What are the odds that he actually wanted $10,000 for a legitimate business? I’m thinking very little. His dad is trying to give him a second chance and get him back on his feet and he’s fighting it. What did he do to go to jail? Whatever he did was too much for Voight to keep him out, but why should he have kept him out? If he did something wrong he needed to do the time. But his father didn’t do the time for whatever he was in jail for. That’s still a mystery. If Voight’s son wants to have even a chance with Erin then he needs to clean up his act. But aren’t they more like brother and sister? That seems to be how Erin sees him.
Was Erin a drug addict? She was trying to help that call girl and really got emotional when she made the wrong choice. I was rooting for the girl to make the right choice, but sadly she did not. Erin could just be paying it forward after Voight saved her life, but I just thought she got too emotionally involved for that to be all it was. I really want to know more about Erin’s past.
I assumed the boy that was murdered was Jay’s brother. I just thought since he was so emotional and angry that it had to be family. Turns out it was the younger brother of a girl he dated in high school. Him and his partner were first on the scene and found the poor boy dead. And all these years later he still holds a grudge. I get it, I really do. It must be horrible not to be able to get that image out of his head. But he has an amazing opportunity in the intelligence unit and he can prevent crime and stop it. If he continues down this road of revenge he will end up with nothing.
Check out the preview for next week, the detectives try to save girls you have gotten themselves in very bad situation:
This week seemed a little more like what a typical case may look like for the series. And it’s still a lot of action.
Not only was there a big case going on, a lot of the characters were dealing with personal things as well.
We got to learn more about Adam and Jay this week, but we’ve only scratched the surface of these two guys. There’s much more to learn about them.
The more we learn about Voight the more complex he gets. I really want to know more about what he did to end up in jail and how he got out. It’s hard to tell if he’s running his own department or if people higher up are having a hand in it. Plus he doesn’t do things by the book, but he does if for a good reason. He’s may not be a dirty cop, but he’s certainly not a by the books cop.
Next week the case looks like it’s really going to test the limits of the characters.
You can watch the first three episodes online, so you may want to check this incredible new show out before next week’s new episode.
It’s got heart, action and suspense. If that isn’t enough, there’s hot guys and hot girls.
Plus there are two veteran actors: Jason Beghe and Elias Koteas. Jason has been in the TV series Californication, and films like X-Men: First Class, The Next Three Days, Thelma and Louise and G.I. Jane. Elias has been inThe Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Shutter Island, The Thin Red Line and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies.
There’s a whole lot of talent with veteran and young actors, so check out the first three episodes.
A lot of new shows will concentrate on getting to know the characters and ease you into the cases. Sure they might be exciting, but they aren’t personal. Personal comes later. But with Chicago PD, it’s personal from the beginning.
Detective Antonio Dawson’s son was taken in the first episode and in the second they fight to get him back, that’s pretty personal. Plus Antonio lost his partner in the first episode.
We also got to know Detective Erin Lindsay and Officer Adam Ruzek better this week as well.
Erin was arrested and would do anything for the people she loves, but it seems she hasn’t bee right in the middle of too many cases with the bad guy right in front of her and it’s just him and her. Sounds like she may have many more of those situations to come.
Adam was taken out of the Academy a little early and it shows. He’s not a bad dedicative, just an inexperienced one, but he will learn. He’s ready and willing to learn. He’s living a double life though, he doesn’t want to tell his fiancee what he does. That could become a problem later.
We also got a glimpse of Detective Alvin Olinsky. His gut is smarter than him according to Sergeant Hank Voight.
Voight seems even more suspicious than before. He fights for his people, but the way he got the job is very shady.
Officer Kim Burgess and Officer Kevin Atwater seem to have great chemistry together and they are the go to officers for the intelligence unit. They are funny, loyal and both have good hearts.
Getting to know the characters has been interesting with the intensity of the episodes thus far.
And the intensity level isn’t changing for next weeks episode:
Chicago PD started with a lot of action and a lot of characters.
The writer’s didn’t want to ease us into the new show, they threw us into it.
There’s so many characters it’s hard to know them all by name after just one episode.
Let’s start with Sergeant Hank Voight, the man at the center of the intelligence unit. It’s hard to get a good read on this guy. We know that he saved Detective Erin Lindsay’s life and he is in the process of getting a young boy out of the drug dealing life. He also cares a lot about his crew and runs a tight ship. But then he has his very shady moments as well, it’s hard to tell whether he’s blurring the lines of good and bad to protect his city and his colleagues, or if he is a dirty cop.
Erin is a tough girl. She doesn’t get worked up about thugs hitting on her, she’s doing undercover work, but she also has a kind heart. We get so see all of this in just one episode. Erin is played by Sophia Bush and it looks like Sophia has taken some of Brooke’s heart with her to play this new character.
Erin’s partner, Detective Jay Halstead, is relatively new to the unit and is trying to prove himself to Voight and to Erin.
Detective Antonio Dawson is also apart of the unit and has a wife and kids and from the beginning an old case will fall back into his lap.
We got to see glimpses at a lot of different characters in the premiere, but the storyline is already in high gear. There was shootings, deaths, a car chase and even a kidnapping.
So far this show seems to be all about the action.
If you haven’t seen the first episode yet, head over to NBC.com and check it out, if you have seen it, check out the preview for next week:
