Every week the Intelligence unit put themselves in harms way to protect their city, I’ve never feared for one of the lives like I did on this episode. It was almost like the inevitability of Jay being killed was upon us and I think Erin felt the same way. She wasn’t seeing what we were seeing, which was probably even scarier. How long was JP going to wait till he took Jay’s life? The first episode of the series, the writers killed off one of the detectives and that kept playing in the back of mind. I was thinking can they really kill off Jay?
I enjoy shows that can get me on the edge of the seat thinking that a main character is going to die, when they really can’t die. This time though, it felt like Jay could really die.
So far this season we are getting a really good look at who Erin is. Each episode has given an in depth look of how her life was before Voight. This week she told a story about getting her mother a fix, her mom throwing up on her and Erin saying she had a drinking problem just to protect her mom. It’s amazing to think about the girl she was, to the woman she’s become. This is also good character development for Voight as well. He’ the reason she turned to out the way she did. It’s hard to think of him as a corrupt cop when he took Erin in and raised her.
Voight and Olinsky still seem to be playing by the old rules. They’re not really corrupt, they are just use to the old ways. I’m wondering if these old way have anything to do with why Roman has apparently met Olinsky before?
Only occasionally do we get to see Platt’s sensitive side and I never thought Nadia would be the one to bring that out. Nadia is becoming a very interesting character on the show. ‘Chicago PD’ is still very new and with episodes like this, it’s clear the show should be around for a while.
