Madam Secretary Season 1 Episode 9

RA_MADAMSEC_NEWSIt was like Elizabeth was back in the CIA, only she was investigating her own people. I don’t think she had any idea where the evidence would lead her though.

I knew there was more to Matt’s character. I just felt like he had a lot more potential and it turns out he’s wrapped up in this conspiracy. Elizabeth wanted to be able to trust her people and now she knows she can and even got herself a double agent. Can Matt hack being a double agent though? Elizabeth must have faith in him to ask him.

It doesn’t actually surprise me that Jackson has something to do with Marsh’s pane crash. I’ve suspected him for a couple of episodes now. Just because Jackson had something to do with the crash, doesn’t mean Dalton had anything to do with it, though it doesn’t look good.

After George died, Elizabeth could have grieved and moved on, but it was all too suspicious. Now she’s in so deep that she can’t turn back. She’s a very powerful woman, but can she really go head to head with the President?

For whatever reason ‘Madam Secretary’ has been popular with an older crowd. But if the younger demographic would tune in now, they would find a much more compelling show. I’ve been enjoying the story and the characters since it started, but the she show is really heating up now.

Next week we will see more of Elizabeth’s past. Check out the preview:

Madam Secretary Season 1 Episode 8

RA_MADAMSEC_NEWSThings are about to get very complicated. Henry is still working for the NSA and can’t tell his wife and Elizabeth is about to truly start her investigation into George and Marsh. Do you think her theory is right? I think she’s been really good at reading people so far. She must be right.

This was an intense episode. She held a man’s life in her hands and used her CIA savvy to get him back. She’s usually such the diplomat, but this time she was in on the military action and it was very exciting.

It’s no surprise that Henry wants to continue to work with the NSA. He’s wife is the secretary of state and while she talks about how she misses being a professor, she knows she leads a much more important life now. There may be a lot of negatives about her new position, but she likes it. Henry does enjoy teaching and writing, but no one can fault him for wanting him more, especially when your wife is a powerful woman.

I think the writers are right to make him want more. It wouldn’t make sense for the man to sit by while his wife has all the power. And who says they can’t be a great power couple. Though this will probably have affects on their relationship. On top of all that, if he’s found out, her job could be in jeopardy. Things are getting very exciting.

Elizabeth is determined to find out what happened to her predecessor and she’ll be stepping on some toes:

Madam Secretary Season 1 Episode 7

RA_MADAMSEC_NEWSThe preview for this episode really mislead viewers. It looked like the episode was going to be about Elizabeth’s missing daughter. Instead it was the crisis after the quake, the relief aid and the press. Elizabeth could care less about her image, but Daisy kept on top of her job and made sure Elizabeth wasn’t smeared in the eyes of the press.

Matt had a wake up call. He was going into work punching a clock till Elizabeth told him his heart wasn’t in it. He put his heart in his work and got her looking good for the press and able to get the aid India needed. When he tried to do the same for his love life, he was too late. Daisy is marrying the man she doesn’t truly love.

I felt like Elizabeth kind of took a back seat in this episode. Matt was trying to put his heart into his life, Stevie was thinking her father was cheating on her mother and Henry was working for the NSA. Elizabeth was still a big part of the episode trying to do crisis management, but I felt we got to know the other characters a little bit better.

I like a lot of the smaller characters, but I saw a side of Matt that I liked this week. He’s a smart guy that’s letting his life pass him by, but why? Why was his work more passionate with Marsh? Why was he joking around with Daisy instead of getting serious? He’s starting to be an interesting character.

Check out the preview for next week. A mission goes wrong and a man is missing. Elizabeth has to figure out how to bring him home:

Madam Secretary Season 1 Episode 6

RA_MADAMSEC_NEWSThis was a very powerful episode. Elizabeth has proven herself to be bold before, but never as bold as she did this week.

In the previews it showed that she went off script in her speech and chaos ensued, but we didn’t know why she went off script. She took a stand and it almost ruined her career. But the greater the risk, the greater the reward and she saved a lot of people by just changing her speech.

I’m not surprised that Nadine is loyal. I just had a feeling that she was, but that makes me sad for Nadine, not truly knowing the man she was having an affair with. What will Elizabeth find when she investigates Marsh? Will it be what she fears?

Blake is a very loyal employee, but he would make a horrible spy. He’s just too sweet. But at the same time it was so funny to watch him unfazed by Elizabeth going off script. He said just for the record I didn’t know that was going to happen. He seems to know Elizabeth better than the rest of them do, or appreciates her more. The others were all freaking out. I think you should be happy your boss is standing up for what’s right. Besides the speech that was written for her was horrible. It was so boring and not in tone for who she really is.

Each week things are getting more and more exciting and next week one of Elizabeth’s daughters will be missing. Check out the preview:

Madam Secretary Season 1 Episode 5

RA_MADAMSEC_NEWSI’m not sure why everyone loved Elizabeth’s predecessor. The secretary of state’s job is to diplomatically deal with other countries, but all he seemed to want to do was go to war and become president. He didn’t really care about the position. While Elizabeth works really hard to settle things through talks instead of war.

Other than the memorial that painted the man as a great man, we haven’t really gotten any idea of who the former secretary of state was. Now we are learning a lot about him and the writers are doing it in a very interesting way. He didn’t believe in doing things the right way, he believed on getting things done the quick and easy way. He falsified a document to get a pipeline approved and appointed a man for peace talks that prefers military actions. All of this is painting a picture of the man.

We are left with quite an interesting cliff hanger. Elizabeth wants to investigate Nadine. She’s knows she was having an affair with the former secretary of state, Marsh. How much does she know about the man’s inside dealings and his suspicious death? And what is the reason Elizabeth wants to investigate her? This conspiracy is getting really interesting.

Henry is increasingly getting to be a more interesting character too. I thought he was going to get in a bar fight, which was surprising in the least, but instead he was taking the officer outside to have a word with him and get him to sober up. It was very manly while also sticking up for his wife. And the more and more he talked about his military history, the more we got to know this very layered character.

This show just keeps getting better every week and it keeps getting more exciting. Elizabeth is such a great, strong character. You know that she will get the job done, it might not be easy, but she’ll get it done. And she’ll keep her dignity intact while she does it.

Check out the preview for next week. Elizabeth has her first big speech, and it doesn’t go to plan:

Hillary Clinton Inspires CBS’s New Show, ‘Madam Secretary’

0 (1)Hillary Clinton has played a big role in young females. It wasn’t too long ago that she was the subject of a lot of girls’ college essays. She could inspire a lot more girls in the future if she does decide to run for President again in 2016. For now she has inspired a new show on CBS, ‘Madam Secretary’.

According to Deadline, the new drama came about because of Hilary and Benghazi. The executive producer, Lori McCreary (‘Invictus’), and Morgan Freeman discussed producing a scripted show for CBS with the Entertainment chairman, Nina Tassler. At first Lori said it was just about creating a great character “and then, guess what happened — the Banghazi hearings.” Morgan and Lori went back to Nina with the idea of “what it’s like to be the female Secretary of State, ‘and how it translates overseas when rights for women are not what they are here,” Lori said. Nina introduced them to Barbara Hall, the creator of Joan of Arc, and she ran with the idea.

Madam-Secretary-CBS-2014Téa Leoni plays the lead character, Elizabeth McCord. She’s a former CIA analyst who left for ethical reasons. Elizabeth is a professor when she is approached about becoming the next Secretary of State. The President himself makes the request, after the suspicious death of her predecessor.

Elizabeth has to deal with two teenagers getting kidnapped in Syria and entertaining the King of Swaziland and his wives in her first days of taking her positon. It looks like it will take some getting use to her new role. She has her own way of doing things, which isn’t always approved. Take a look at the promo:

‘Madam Secretary’ also stars Zeljko Ivanek (‘Argo’), Geoffrey Arend (‘500 Days of Summer’) and Tim Daly (‘Private Practice’).

The series premieres September 21 on CBS at 8/9c.
