Katherine Heigl (Charlston Tucker) hasn’t pulled in as many viewers as NBC probably hoped she would. The ratings for the show have been up and down.
The show hit a low on the mid-season finale with no Voice lead in, Variety reported. Then on January 19, the ‘State of Affairs’ ratings rose 57%, TVLine said.
According to TV Series Finale, last week the show was up 7.33% from the previous week.
The site also showed that Katherine’s show has been averaging 5.44 million viewers a week. Is that enough to get picked up for a second season?
There has been a lot of shows that haven’t survived this season.
“How to Get Away with Murder’ and ‘Gotham’ have been pretty successful though, but both had built in fan bases. HTGAWM comes from Shondaland and is part of the TGIT night with ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Scandal’. Shonda Rhimes’ newest show had an easy time drawing people in with her name on it and the shows that led into her new series.
Anyone who is a fan of Batman was sure to check out ‘Gotham’.
Some may have thought Katherine would have brought along her own set of fans to the show. But before ‘State of Affairs’ premiered a lot of publications were reporting that the former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actress is difficult to work with.
I was one of Katherine’s fans that tuned in because I missed seeing her on TV. I’m a fan of hers from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘My Father the Hero’,’Life as We Know It’, ’27 Dresses’ and ‘The Ugly Truth’.
From the beginning of ‘State of Affairs’ I wasn’t so sure about the plot, but in the latest episodes I’ve been very pleased with where the story has gone. I would love to see a second season.
This is Katherine’s third series. Besides for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, she has also starred in ‘Roswell’. All three of her series have been drama, while most of her films have been comedies. Maybe she should try a comedy series.
We’ll have to wait and see if NBC will pick up the show for another season. If you are a fan of the show make sure you tune in, if the numbers progress the show may survive for a second season.
