How could anyone pass up the opportunity of a life time? That is what Cristina is being handed. She’s been given all of her dreams and from the man who had a hand in making her the surgeon she is today. She’ll win a million Harper-Averys from there, but what about the other doctors? How will they win the prestigious award.
I get the concept of not allowing doctors from your own hospital to win the award. If they win, it could be said that they won because they were one of their own, but it’s still not fair to completely rule them out.
Richard is right to be worried that their talent could leave, but he has to remember that he’s the reason why the Harper-Avery foundation owns the hospital. They needed funding and his girlfriend swooped in. He shouldn’t be taking it out on Jackson. He wasn’t apart of that decision and he’s been working really hard since to prove his worth. Think about him for a second. It doesn’t matter what hospital he works at, he will never win the award because his family owns the foundation. So no matter what innovative thing he does, he can never be recognized for it.
With losing Cristina, I think Emilia will be good addition. She was great in Private Practice, as I said last week, and she’s a great surgeon. Not that Grey’s Anatomy needs any more characters, even with losing Cristina, there’s still plenty of them.
This was the first episode with Alex in his new job and he was hardly on screen. Does this mean he’s leaving us too?
And which resident is going to be fired? We caught the conversation at the end, so we could have heard wrong, but it sounds like one them will be getting fired, but which one? Pretty much all of them have screwed up at one point. And think about how much Meredith, Cristina and Alex screwed up during their residency.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Burke. Not since he left Cristina at the alter. In some ways it was just like old times having him back on screen. I guess I kind of thought that maybe the writers were going to have her leave the show for Burke, but he’s happily moved on, though I don’t think he ever truly stopped loving Cristina. Him leaving that day was the best thing for both of them, it just took a long time for that to be apparent.
Check out the preview for next week. Cristina has made her decision, but Owen and Meredith don’t want her to go:
